University Challenge 2010
Green the World @ My CampusSchneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management, is launching its 2nd annual University Challenge in Malaysia on July 6th. Schneider Electric’s University Challenge is a competition designed to inspire engineering students at government and privately funded universities in Malaysia by challenging them to develop creative and innovative proposals that solve practical energy usage problems. This year’s theme, “Green the World @ My Campus,” tasks students with finding energy-efficient solutions that can be implemented on their own campus. Beginning on July 6th, this exciting learning opportunity is open to all students earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and so far, a total of 11 universities have confirmed participation. Contestants will be trained on Schneider Electric’s Energy Efficiency solutions and most importantly, gain exposure to real-life scenarios that can be applied to their campus. Attractive prizes await the winning teams, as the top three will receive bursaries valued at RM15,000, RM10,000 and RM5,000 respectively, plus trophies and Certificates of Honor. To participate, two to three member teams must register online by July 26th 2010 and submit their first proposal by August 6th, 2010 at www.schneider-electric.com.my. No expenses are required for the students or the universities, just their desire to work collaboratively to submit ideas on achieving energy efficiency at their campus. At last year’s 1st Schneider Electric University Challenge, there were ten finalists shortlisted from 66 teams which registered and all ten teams went through full day workshop on Schneider Electric’s energy efficient solutions. They were also required to submit a full technical report and were guided to build their demo or prototypes for the competition. The winners were teams from Multimedia University, Universiti Sains Malaysia and University of Malaya.
